Known as the "King of Telluride" and the father of newgrass, Sam Bush is one of the most influential mandolin players in American music.

Raised on a Kentucky cattle farm, Bush was a three-time national junior fiddle champion as a teenager. He famously turned down an offer to join Roy Acuff's band to follow his own sound. In 1971 he co-founded the groundbreaking New Grass Revival. The band blended traditional bluegrass with rock, reggae, and long improvisational jams, and helped change the genre forever.

Over five decades, Bush has toured with Leon Russell, Emmylou Harris, Lyle Lovett, and Béla Fleck and the Flecktones. He has earned four IBMA Mandolin Player of the Year awards and the Americana Music Association's Lifetime Achievement Award for Instrumentalist. His influence runs through today's bluegrass vanguard, including Punch Brothers, Steep Canyon Rangers, and Greensky Bluegrass.

Don't miss this living legend and his band live on The Millwald stage for a night of masterful picking, fearless improvisation, and pure joy.
